Потом по лестнице поднимаюсь на второй этаж. Среди участников церемонии вижу представителей разных течений христианства: трагедия общая, одна на всех. В зале немало мусульман, особенно женщин. Потом, чуть позже, замечаю в толпе парня, в руках у которого статуэтка Девы Марии и... Коран. Да, беда общая, и люди совершенно разных конфессий одинаково беззащитны перед террором. После отпевания священники на время выходят. Во дворе перед церковью начинает играть духовой оркестр. Туда же перемещаются большинство тех, кто пришел проститься с погибшими. Мы остаемся внутри здания с родственниками и друзьями семьи. Кто-то сдерживается. Кто-то тихо плачет. Кто-то рыдает навзрыд. Некоторые подходят к гробам, кладут на них руки и беззвучно молятся о душах погибших. Матери погибшей девушки, жене погибшего, становится плохо. Под руки ее выводят из зала. Она больше сюда не возвращается: чуть позже длинная вереница машин отправится на кладбище, женщину отведут прямо к машинам.  Возвращается священник. Старшая и младшая сестры погибшей берут в руки венки. Мужчины поднимают гробы. Медленно, под аплодисменты и звуки католической молитвы выносят на лестницу и спускаются к стоящим на улице катафалкам. Стоящие на улице бросают рис - так провожают в последний путь не успевших выйти замуж девушек - невест. Оркестр играет "Оду к радости" Бетховена. Люди хлопают и плачут. С портретов смотрят те, чьи жизни прервались по бывшей для них привычной и оттого казавшейся безопасной дороге к инженерному корпусу Дамасского университета. Двух пропавших без вести друзей-студентов этого же факультета, которых несколько дней искал практически весь Дамаск, нашли. В то утро Юсеф повез их на своей машине вместе с собственной дочерью. By the US policy think-tank Brookings Institution's own admission, the Kofi Annan six-point peace plan in Syria was merely a ploy to buy time to reorganize NATO's ineffective terrorist proxies and provide them the pretext necessary for establishing NATO protected safe havens from which to carry out their terrorism from. In fact, Brookings actually stated in a recent report, "Assessing Options for Regime Change" (emphasis added):
"An alternative is for diplomatic efforts to focus first on how to end the violence and how to gain humanitarian access, as is being done under Annan’s leadership. This may lead to the creation of safe-havens and humanitarian corridors, which would have to be backed by limited military power. This would, of course, fall short of U.S. goals for Syria and could preserve Asad in power. From that starting point, however, it is possible that a broad coalition with the appropriate international mandate could add further coercive action to its efforts." -page 4, Assessing Options for Regime Change, Brookings Institution.

As if to alleviate any lingering doubts, NATO's "Alliance News Blog" has confirmed that the US is committed not to "peace," but rather to the overthrow of Syria's government and is "already committed to helping [President Bashar al-Assad] fall," but is "merely looking for the least violent, lowest cost way to get there." The April 9, 2012 blog entry features an op-ed titled, "US 'already committed to helping Assad fall'," and fully admits that the US is equipping the so-called "Free Syrian Army" which has received weapons, leadership, and cash from the NATO-backed Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) terrorists led by notorious mass-murderer Abdul Hakim Belhaj.

And now, the Brookings Institution itself has predictably declared the Annan "peace deal" a failure and states that the time to "stretch" Syria's military to the breaking point through expanded foreign-backed unrest has come. In an article titled, "Annan's Mission Impossible: Why is everyone pretending that the U.N. plan in Syria has a prayer of suceeding?" Brookings Doha Center director Salman Shaikh insults the intelligence of his readership while handing out useful talking points surely to be parroted by the corporate-media over the next few days and weeks. Shaikh depicts the ceasefire's failure as solely the result of the Syrian government's belligerence and brutality, while mentioning nothing of the Syrian opposition's documented and even admitted atrocities.
Video: Michael Weiss of the Neo-Con "Henry Jackson Society," openly admits that diplomatic options are being paraded publicly to satisfy public opinion, but ultimately NATO plans to unilaterally intervene militarily in Syria, and will do so with the UN's purposefully sabotaged "humanitarian operation" as its pretext. .... And while portraying the Syrian government as irrationally carrying out a campaign of brutality against the Syrian people, Shaikh admits that the "Free Syrian Army" is operating militarily out of Turkey and that the Syrian National Council (SNC) represents foreign harbored and influenced leadership. While Shaikh portrays Syria's minorities as "on the sideline," he declines from explaining why they have not joined the foreign-driven unrest. In reality, these groups have been the hardest hit by rebel atrocities, including Syria's large Christian communities.
 Image: Christians in Syria have been particularly hit hard by what is being described as "ethnic cleansing," not by Syrian security forces, but by NATO-backed death squads under the banner of the "Free Syrian Army." The LA Times has been quietly reporting on the tragedy of Syria's minorities at the hands of the Syrian rebels for months - and indicates that wider genocide will take place, just as it is now in Libya, should Syria's government collapse under foreign pressure. ....
Shaikh's shoddy salesmanship also reveals another truth - when he claims that "opposition leaders inside and outside the country do not have the resources to unite their ranks alone." Surely any opposition group that represented the vast majority of the Syrian people, as the UN and the corporate-media claim daily, would not have trouble finding the resources inside of Syria "alone." In reality, the unrest in Syria is driven by a foreign-backed violent minority, carried out by a combination of violent Sunni-extremists from Syria and many foreign fighters brought in from abroad. Many of Syria's real opposition find the "Free Syrian Army's" collaboration with foreigners "unacceptable."
NATO and its proxies' efforts have failed primarily because the movement's semi-covert foreign backing is still not enough to turn the tide, and more overt backing is needed, including foreign military intervention. Shaikh's entire argument hinges on the creation of a "genuine grand opposition coalition " that currently, admittedly, does not exist.
As the Brookings Institution prepares the next stage of its premeditated escalation against the sovereign nation-state of Syria, and continues framing the violence as one-sided, a torrent of reports even from the corporate-media itself confirms what many geopolitical analysts have been saying for over a year - that the "Free Syrian Army" is conducting a vicious campaign of terrorism leaving Syrian security forces no choice but to continue fighting on to restore order.
In fact, just today, Wednesday May 9, 2012, Syrian rebels attempted to attack a convoy consisting of Kofi Annan's UN monitors. France inexplicably then blamed the Syrian government for not providing adequate security for the UN monitors, after a year of condemning the government for attempting to restore order in the face of the very growing militant violence the attacks resulted from. And in recent weeks, everything from Human Rights Watch reports, to open admissions from the rebels themselves confirm that they are committing widespread human rights abuses and turning toward indiscriminate bombing tactics. This indicates a threat Syria's government would be remiss not to counter - and surely a threat the "international community" would be remiss to continue supporting, funding, and even arming.
Now a concerted effort will be made to sabotage the UN peace plan in every shape, form, and manner, especially through increased violence and particularly in cross-border incidents to help sell NATO-backed, Turkey-led incursions into Syria to carve out "safe havens." From there a steady stream of weapons and fighters from around the world will be funneled in, in an attempt to, as Brookings Shaikh puts it, stretch Syria's forces "to a breaking point."
 .... To help convince Turkey to "take the plunge" for NATO, the Council on Foreign Relations has recently published a report attempting to flesh out an improved alliance between the US and Turkey - claiming the new relationship would trump the potential for US cooperation with any BRICS nation (except perhaps India). This patronizing political stunt attempts to fill Turkish leaders with delusions of grandeur, tempting them with "goodies" ahead of falling on their swords for Wall Street and London's ambitions in Syria and Iran. Turkish leaders might reassess such grandiose claims and remember BRICS' growth and benefits are based on solidarity and production, avoiding "alliances" with Wall Street, London, and their institutions, while conversely, Wall Street and London's "benefits" are based on domination, exploitation, betrayal, and unsustainable pyramid schemes.
Syria's fate rests on both Syria and its allies' ability to produce a tactical reality on the ground that would make any foreign military incursion a disaster. It also depends on either Turkey's wisdom or foolishness in considering the elementary ploy and poisoned "goodies" the West is dangling in front of it in exchange for complicity in dividing and destroying neighboring Syria.
The corporate-financiers centered around the capitals of the West have committed to a global war aimed at permanently destroying nation-states and replacing them with a homogeneous administrative system built out of Wall Street and London-funded NGOs, interlocking with the West's contrived "international institutions." It is in essence, a World War, currently being fought with 4th generation warfare to build a neo-imperial global government has begun. With overt efforts to destabilize nations around the world, including Russia and China, the West's hand is revealed and there is no turning back.
The only hope of stopping disaster if either the corporate-financiers succeed or fail (thus turning in and feeding on itself), is to recognize their source of power, and begin undermining it on a daily basis through bothboycotting their goods and services, while simultaneously replacing their corporations and institutions with local, genuine alternatives. Syria may seem like an isolated conflict, but is in reality linked to us directly, regardless of where we live. Either we live in a nation that will be next, or a nation who will be further crushed under the hubris, power, and arrogance of an empowered Wall Street and London elite. |

При этом, мало кто в мире, действительно, задумывается о том, что реально сейчас там происходит, предпочитая принимать заявления непонятных активистов и правозащитниках о десятках и сотнях ежедневно гибнущих в Сирии "от рук силовиков и армии" мирных граждан. Крупнейшие арабские телеканалы "Аль-Джазира" и "Аль-Арабия" десятками в день выдают сообщения о том, как в Хомсе и Алеппо армия и силовые структуры убивают собственное население, якобы нанося с воздуха удары по жилым кварталам. При этом, для многих мировых СМИ главным источником информации, уже насчитавшем за минувшие двое суток более 200 погибших, служит некая "Сирийская обсерватория прав человека ". Российский МИД прокомментировал на днях деятельность этой базирующейся в Лондоне структуры, персонал которой состоит из двух человек - руководителя и секретаря-переводчика. Как заявил официальный представитель МИД Александр Лукашевич, возглавляет эту структуру некий Абдурахман, который не имеет не только журналистской или юридической подготовки, но даже и полного среднего образования, являясь по роду занятия владельцем закусочной. Но теперь, совершенно "магическим" образом, эта же самая улица уже обозначена ГуглМэпс как улица 15го марта, вероятно по дате начала выступлений т.н. оппозиции в марте 2011 года. Кроме того, таким же "магическим" способом озеро которое носит название Аль Ассад "вдруг" было переименовано тем же самым ГуглМэпс в Syria See, т.е. Сирийское море. | |

So called "free syrian army" claimed responsibility for two terrorist attacks in Aleppo. This came out on France24, the usual loud-hailer for terrorists and insurgents operating in Syria, after the initial accusation that the Syrian Army was responsible for these terrorist attacks. Mind you, earlier the official London announced political and arms support to the so called "free syrian army", therefore the deaths and destructions are sole responsibility of the West and terrorists supported by them.

The report acknowledges the existence of "an armed entity" involved in the killings of civilians and police as well as the conduct of terrorist acts, which in turn have contributed to triggering actions by government forces. The Report refers to "armed opposition groups" as well as to the "Free Syrian Army", both of which, according to the AL Mission, are involved in the deliberate killing of innocent civilians: "In some zones, this armed entity reacted by attacking Syrian security forces and citizens, causing the Government to respond with further violence. In the end, innocent citizens pay the price for those actions with life and limb.
"In Homs, Idlib and Hama, the Observer Mission witnessed acts of violence being committed against Government forces and civilians that resulted in several deaths and injuries. Examples of those acts include the bombing of a civilian bus, killing eight persons and injuring others, including women and children, and the bombing of a train carrying diesel oil. In another incident in Homs, a police bus was blown up, killing two police officers. A fuel pipeline and some small bridges were also bombed. "
"Such incidents include the bombing of buildings, trains carrying fuel, vehicles carrying diesel oil and explosions targeting the police, members of the media and fuel pipelines. Some of those attacks have been carried out by the Free Syrian Army and some by other armed opposition groups." Stop the War Coalition fully supports the right of the peoples in all the countries of the Middle East to determine their own future and assert democratic rights. We are therefore implacably opposed to any external intervention, especially military intervention, in Syria.
In relation to Syria, any military intervention will most likely be even more destructive and costly than it was in Libya. It will increase Arab and Muslim alienation from the western powers. Most Syrian people, while demanding democratic rights, would oppose any such interference.
Public opinion in Britain would not support any further military adventures of the type seen in Iraq, Afghanistan or Libya, especially at a time when government austerity policies pose a growing threat to living standards.
NATO is already manoeuvring to weaken Syria through sanctions, which have never been an alternative to war as much as a prelude to it, acclimatising public opinion to the “inevitability” of war. It is also interfering politically, trying to ensure that the Assad regime is replaced by one with a pro-western orientation, rather than one based on those forces which have struggled for years to create a democratic and anti-imperialist alternative.
Stop the War Coalition believes the Syrian people should assert their own democratic rights and determine their own system of government without the kind of external interference which has proved so disastrous in Iraq and Afghanistan, and looks like working no better in Libya. We therefore oppose any foreign attempts to create an unrepresentative “government-in-exile”, which would have no purpose beyond further legitimising the case for military intervention.
World opinion, as expressed at the United Nations, is also clearly against any interference in Syria, with China, Russia, India and Brazil among those opposed. The US and Britain are therefore looking once more to the Arab League, and in this case Turkey, to provide a cover for their war policy. However, the world will not get fooled again after the experience of Libya, where a supposed intervention “to save civilians” developed into a regime change war which cost at least 30,000 lives.
Stop the War Coalition therefore opposes all foreign military intervention in Syria. | |

December 28, 2011 Most in the civilized world are blissfully unaware that we are marching ineluctably towards an increasingly likely pre-emptive nuclear war. No, it's not at all about Iran and Israel. It's about the decision of Washington and the Pentagon to push Moscow up against the wall with what is euphemistically called Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD). On November 23, a normally low-keyed Russian President Dmitry Medvedev told the world in clear terms that Russia was prepared to deploy its missiles on the border to the EU between Poland and Lithuania, and possibly in the south near Georgia and NATO member Turkey to counter the advanced construction process of the US ballistic missile defense shield: "The Russian Federation will deploy in the west and the south of the country modern weapons systems that could be used to destroy the European component of the US missile defense," he announced on Russian television. "One of these steps could be the deployment of the Iskander missile systems in Kaliningrad." Those would be theatre ballistic missile systems. The latest version of Iskander, the Iskander-K, whose details remain top secret, reportedly has a range up to 2000 km and carries cruise missiles and a target accuracy to 7 meters or less. Medvedev declared he has ordered the Russian defense ministry to "immediately" put radar systems in Kaliningrad that warn of incoming missile attacks on a state of combat readiness. He called for extending the targeting range of Russia's strategic nuclear missile forces and re-equipping Russia's nuclear arsenal with new warheads capable of piercing the US/NATO defense shield due to become operational in six years, by 2018. Medvedev also threatened to pull Russia out of the New START missile reduction treaty if the United States moves as announced. Medvedev then correctly pointed to the inevitable link between “defensive” missiles and “offensive” missiles: “Given the intrinsic link between strategic offensive and defensive arms, conditions for our withdrawal from the New Start treaty could also arise,” he said. The Russian President didn’t mince words: “I have ordered the armed forces to develop measures to ensure, if necessary, that we can destroy the command and control systems” of the US shield, Medvedev said. “These measures are appropriate, effective and low-cost.” Russia has repeatedly warned that the US BMD global shield is designed to destabilize the nuclear balance and risks provoking a new arms race. Obama Signs the “National Defense Authorization Act "by Michel ChossudovskyGlobal Research, January 1, 2012 With minimal media debate, at a time when Americans were celebrating the New Year with their loved ones, the “National Defense Authorization Act " H.R. 1540 was signed into law by President Barack Obama. The actual signing took place in Hawaii on the 31st of December. According to Obama's "signing statement", the threat of Al Qaeda to the Security of the Homeland constitutes a justification for repealing fundamental rights and freedoms, with a stroke of the pen... The “National Defense Authorization Act " (H.R. 1540) repeals the US Constitution. While the facade of democracy prevails, supported by media propaganda, the American republic is fractured. The tendency is towards the establishment of a totalitarian State, a military government dressed in civilian clothes. The passage of NDAA is intimately related to Washington's global military agenda. The military pursuit of Worldwide hegemony also requires the "Militarization of the Homeland", namely the demise of the American Republic...  If we are to put this in a comparative historical context, the relevant provisions of the NDAA HR 1540 are, in many regards, comparable to those contained in the " Decree of the Reich President for the Protection of People and State", commonly known as the "Reichstag Fire Decree" ( Reichstagsbrandverordnung)enacted in Germany under the Weimar Republic on 27 February 1933 by President (Field Marshal) Paul von Hindenburg. Implemented in the immediate wake of the Reichstag Fire (which served as a pretext), this February 1933 decree was used to repeal civil liberties including the right of Habeas Corpus. Article 1 of the February 1933 " Decree of the Reich President for the Protection of People and State" suspended civil liberties under the pretext of "protecting" democracy: " Thus, restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the press, on the right of association and assembly, and violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic, and telephonic communications, and warrants for house-searches, orders for confiscations, as well as restrictions on property rights are permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed." (Art. 1, emphasis added)  The Reichstag Fire decree was followed in March 1933 by " The Enabling Act" ( Ermächtigungsgesetz) which allowed (or enabled) the Nazi government of Chancellor Adolf Hitler to invoke de facto dictatorial powers. These two decrees enabled the Nazi regime to introduce legislation which was in overt contradiction with the 1919 Weimar Constitution. December 24, 2011 - In January of 2011, we were told that "spontaneous," "indigenous" uprising had begun sweeping North Africa and the Middle East in what was hailed as the "Arab Spring." It would be almost four months before the corporate-media would admit that the US had been behind the uprisings and that they were anything but "spontaneous," or "indigenous." In an April 2011 article published by the New York Times titled, "U.S. Groups Helped Nurture Arab Uprisings," it was stated:
"A number of the groups and individuals directly involved in the revolts and reforms sweeping the region, including the April 6 Youth Movement in Egypt, the Bahrain Center for Human Rights and grass-roots activists like Entsar Qadhi, a youth leader in Yemen, received training and financing from groups like the International Republican Institute, the National Democratic Institute and Freedom House, a nonprofit human rights organization based in Washington." The article would also add, regarding the US National Endowment for Democracy (NED):
"The Republican and Democratic institutes are loosely affiliated with the Republican and Democratic Parties. They were created by Congress and are financed through the National Endowment for Democracy, which was set up in 1983 to channel grants for promoting democracy in developing nations. The National Endowment receives about $100 million annually from Congress. Freedom House also gets the bulk of its money from the American government, mainly from the State Department. "
It is hardly a speculative theory then, that the uprisings were part of an immense geopolitical campaign conceived in the West and carried out through its proxies with the assistance of disingenuous foundations, organizations, and the stable of NGOs they maintain throughout the world. As we will see, preparations for the "Arab Spring" and the global campaign that is now encroaching on both Russia and China, as predicted in February 2011's "The Middle East & then the World," began not as unrest had already begun, but years before the first "fist" was raised, and within seminar rooms in D.C. and New York, US-funded training facilities in Serbia, and camps held in neighboring countries, not within the Arab World itself. the rest of the article | |
